New York's police union wants to expand the list of ailments covered by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act to include cancers. Showing Officer Alonzo Harris's uniform from the clean-up, caked with noxious grime, union leaders have now called for the release of the medical records of hundreds of Ground Zero responders.

The records, the union expects, will establish a causal link. Those calling for the release of the records have slammed city officials for the witholding them, calling explanations about "privacy concerns" that need to be worked out "a smokescreen," according to the New York Times.

The spokeswoman for the Mayor Bloomberg, Samantha Levine, said that "there is a good-faith effort on both sides to share this data; it simply...takes some time."
