Greg Kelly, Son of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Accused of Rape; DA Stays Silent

Greg Kelly, son of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, did not appear on Thursday's episode of "Good Day New York" with co-host Rosanna Scotto, after reports surfaced that a Manhattan woman accused him of rape.

Reportedly, the woman told the NYPD she had a few drinks with Kelly, 43, on Oct.8, 2011. The pair stopped by South Street Seaport located on 19 Fulton Street. The pair allegedly proceeded to the unidentified woman's office at a Lower Manhattan law firm. It was at the law firm that, she says, Kelly had allegedly sexually assaulted her. 

Kelly and the woman had allegedly continued to communicate through text messages and phone calls after the incident.

Police interviewed the woman late Tuesday night. The reason why she did not call police earlier is unclear. However, police turned the case over to the Manhattan District Attorney, Cyrus Vance, due to possible ethical conflicts investigating the top cop's son.

A call placed to District Attorney Vance's office said that a statement on the issue has not been released "as of yet." One of Vance's press officers said, through an e-ail, the office is "declining to comment." The NYPD's office of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs also said they have not released a statement.

Kelly denied the accusations against him. His lawyer, Andrew Lankler, released a statement to The New York Post on the issue.

"Mr. Kelly is aware that the New York County District Attorney's Office is conducting an investigation," Lankler said. "Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind, and is cooperating fully with the district attorney's investigation. We know the district attorney's investigation will prove Mr. Kelly's innocence."

A friend told ABC News that the woman has been an "emotional cripple" since the Oct. 8. Her boyfriend had picked her up from the office where she appeared to be visibly distraught.

When the woman's boyfriend heard of the attack, he became so enraged that he allegedly confronted Police Commissioner Kelly at a public event, telling him about the incident. According to the woman's story, the commissioner told the man to write a letter.

Commissioner Kelly is in his own hot water on. He has been receiving backlash on the controversial video he appeared in called "The Third Jihad: Radical Islam's Vision for America." The video was used for NYPD counter-terrorism training.

Kelly was interviewed for the controversial film that many critics have called inflammatory to Muslims.

"While it never became part of the Department's curriculum, and was not authorized for any training, regrettably it was shown in a room where officers who were filling out paperwork or on break from actual training had an opportunity to view it over an extended period in 2010," Kelly said in a written statement, according to the Washington Post. "I offer my apologies to members of the Muslim community, in particular, who would find the film inflammatory and its airing on Department property, though unauthorized, to be inappropriate."

Greg Kelly has been with Fox News Channel since 2002, currently holding the position of co-anchor of WNYW's "Good Day New York." He has previously served as a White House correspondent, was a reporter with New York 1 and previously a reporter with ABC affiliate NewsChannel 34. Kelly also is a Marine Corps veteran and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the reserves.
