Steve Jobs' Funeral to be Picketed by Westboro Baptist Church

While the world mourns Steve Jobs' death, Westboro Baptist Church said it plans to protest his funeral. The irony? The church sent the message out using the iPhone.

Jobs died Wednesday at age 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Arrangements for his funeral haven't been announced.

"Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin," Margie Phelps, daughter of the church's founder, tweeted Wednesday night from her iPhone. 

The controversial Topeka, Kan., church, founded by Fred Phelps, consists mostly of members of his large family. The extremist group has faced widespread criticism for using the iPhone to tweet the messages.  Phelps is a disbarred lawyer, and a past civil rights activist. The church often pickets gay pride gatherings, military funerals, high-profile political gatherings, and even mainstream Christian gatherings and concerts. Many Christian churches have publicly separated themselves from the group.

In response to the latest criticism, Margie Phelps replied, "Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell. God created iPhone for that purpose!"

Twitter users reacted to Westboro's plans to picket Jobs' funeral.

"You are such a flop @meganphelpsThink before you contradict. Maybe next time you should tweet from something that wasn't made by Apple," tweeted @jamieavilez.

"Westboro Baptist Church picketing Steve Jobs funeral? Can we legally remove the word 'Church' from their name? Doesn't fit there," Lino Rulli tweeted.
