Miley's first tattoo was inked when she was 17 years-old. It reads "Just Breathe" across her ribcage. “It reminds me not to take things for granted. I mean breathing – that was something none of them could do, the most basic thing. And I put it near my heart, because that is where they will always be," Cyrus said, speaking of a friend who passed away from cystic fibrosis and both of her grandfathers who passed away from cancer.

Her next tattoo features the word "LOVE" in all caps. Miley says the reason for the ink is to encourage positive criticism that comes from love and not let the negative comments weigh her down.

This tattoo is of a heart on her right pinky finger. Apparently, there is also a little cross on the side of her right ring finger. Miley has never spoken about what these tattoos mean to her during interviews, but one can suspect they have something to do with love and Christianity...?

Perhaps Miley's largest and most noticeable tattoo is one of a dream catcher on her right side just under her arm pit. A friend reported that the symbol has four feathers to represent her siblings and the dream catcher is supposed to protects them.

Miley got her anchor tat inked by famous tattoo artist, Fabio Satori, while she was touring in Brazil. “Everyone had an idea in mind and references. She asked me something soft, I made two drawings and she chose one. Miley told her mother that she wanted something that refers to a safe port, something that reminded her that she always has a safe place to return to. The significance of the design is one of hope and a reminder to always have your feet on the ground," Satori said of the tat.

Miley Cyrus has emerged as a strong advocate for LGBT rights in recent times. On Friday, Miley tweeted: "ALL LOVE is equal." Attached to the message was a link to a photograph of her latest tattoo that features an equal sign on her ring finger.
