Casey Anthony's Parents Left Courtroom Silently - Acquittal "A Fair Decision" but No Answer

The "not guilty" verdict of Casey Anthony shook the nation, but the most mixed feelings should be stirring her parents' hearts.

George and Cindy Anthony left court early without approaching their daughter, who was found not guilty of first-degree murder of their granddaughter Caylee Marie Anthony.

Following the verdict, Mark Lippman, the attorney of Cindy and George Anthony, issued a statement saying, "While the family may never know what has happened to Caylee Marie Anthony, they now have closure for this chapter of their life. They will now begin the long process of rebuilding their lives," reported the Orlando Sentinel. "Despite the baseless defense chosen by Casey Anthony, the family believes that the Jury made a fair decision based on the evidence presented, the testimony presented, the scientific information presented and the rules that were given to them by the Honorable Judge Perry to guide them."

During the trial, both George and Cindy were brought on the testimony stand time and time again, and emotionally shed tears as they were reminded of their loss of a two-year-old granddaughter. The defense claimed Caylee accidentally drowned in the family pool, and George Anthony covered it up.

Asked of his suicide attempt in January 2009, George Anthony broke down as he described his emotional turmoil after learning that Caylee had died.

The Anthony family believes that the jury made a fair decision based on the evidence, the scientific information and the testimony presented. The family hopes that they will be given the time by the media to reflect on this verdict and decide the best way to move forward privately, reported the Orlando Sentinel.

The family also wanted the public to know that if anyone wanted to honor Caylee by leaving stuffed animals or other toys at any area near their home, that they would prefer those items be donated in Caylee' s name to families in need, religious centers, or any other entity where the toys would be appreciated, said the newspaper.

The murder trial has torn their hearts, and concluded without a clear answer to Caylee's death.
