Apple's iPad has revolutionized the way individuals consume media. Much of the buzz about the iPad is generated by its ability to connect the user to movie and music entertainment-related apps such as Netflix and Pandora. I'll freely admit that a lot of my own iPad time is entertainment-heavy. But, if entertainment is all that you're doing with the iPad you're missing out on a lot, because the iPad can be so much more than just a fun gadget.
Many iPad owners use the Friendly app for Facebook strictly as a means of social interaction with friends. A great way to capitalize on existing Facebook friendships in your job search is to actively network with friends and be proactive in asking for their assistance in your quest for a better job. Chances are you've got a Facebook friend whose company is actively looking for someone just like you. If you find that you like social media, LinkedIn also has a free app for the iPad as well.

Let's face it. Employers want smart, well-rounded employees who have a broad knowledge base. Business has gone global and having a global perspective can only increase your chances of grabbing a good job. So ditch the brainless television sitcoms which provide no intellectual enrichment and use your iPad to smarten up. The CNN app is a good one to become better informed about current events and political news. PBS and NPR both have absolutely awesome apps for the iPad which can also augment the CNN app. In addition, they'll give you a broad range of programs covering everything from cutting edge social commentary to history, literature, art, dance and international events. The BBC app can help you increase your global literacy by providing world-wide news and the ability to listen to BBC radio live from London. If you want to supercharge your online training in terms of second or third language acquisition there are apps for that as well.
A large part of your job searching time likely happens from home. Give yourself more options to operate from anywhere by setting up your iPad as a miniature mobile office. Make sure you have your resume on your iPad so you can access it and send it from anywhere. When you have downtime, you can research potential employer's websites and submit your resume regardless of your location. If you need other resources for finding jobs there are several apps which can help you. Job Search is a free app which will help you locate jobs internationally. There are many other free job search apps available which specialize in specific fields ranging all the way from healthcare to engineering. Entry Level Jobs is a great app if you're a recent college graduate from a traditional brick and mortar campus.
